The Pitch section of the Chaos Designer affects the pitch of slices in the Element. The three parameters in this section determine how much and what kinds of changes will occur. Raising the sliders causes more slices to be pitch-shifted more frequently. Imagine Zero on these sliders as being āNever,ā maximum being āAlways,ā and in-between the two extremes are increasing ranges of āSometimes.ā
PITCH
This slider controls the probability of how often the pitch is affected.
RANGE
This knob controls the maximum allowable pitch transposition range relative to the sliceās original pitch. When this knob is turned fully counter-clockwise, no Pitch Chaos occurs. When the knob is fully clockwise, the maximum possible degree of pitch variations can happen when a slice is affected by Pitch Chaosāapproximately two octaves.
In Pitch Chaos, each time a slice is affected, it is done so by a different, random offset from the sliceās original pitch. The range control affects how wide the chaotic variance of pitch will be, but itās not an exact or consistent offset.
DOWN / UP
This knob controls the direction in which Pitch Chaos affecst the slices. Turning the knob counter-clockwise forces the slices to shift downward in pitch and turning it clockwise forces the slices to shift upward in pitch. Leaving the knob at the 12 oāclock position allows the slices to shift both higher and lower.
NOTE: Pitch Chaos is not captured in the MIDI File when using the Capture tool.
